Winter is the worst time of the year for colds and illnesses, so if you want to protect your children from catching every virus that’s going around, here are some things you can do.

Nobody likes to see their kids getting ill, but especially not when there’s a special occasion is coming up and they’re looking forward to wearing luxury children’s dresses. So, the best thing to do is teach your little ones good hand hygiene. Make sure they not only wash their hands regularly, but do so for at least 20 seconds at a time.

Get them to sing a handwashing song that is catchy and will get them to wash their hands for long enough.

You might not always be around hand washing facilities, so make sure you keep sanitiser in your bags and coats. This way you can avoid picking up some nasty bugs when out and about.

Although you want to teach your kids how to share, you might want to provide them with their own things in school, so they don’t have to use the same pencils, glue sticks, or snacks as their friends. This will help avoid bugs spreading, particularly if they are in the habit of using their pals’ bottles or sharing food.

Equally important is reminding them to take their shoes and backpacks off when they come in the house. Not only will this keep your house cleaner, but these items can pick up lots of viruses from the school, bathrooms, and public transport, which you won’t want in your home.

It is also important to make sure they eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep, and do plenty of exercise, as this will keep the body strong enough to fight any bugs that come their way.
